Everything in life costs something. Whether it’s time, energy, or money; something is always expended to gain something else. With this is mind, we must realize that freedom is not free. There is a cost associated with attaining it and maintaining it.
The freedom that we’ve been learning about is synonymous with relationship and thereby cannot be paid for by our efforts, items or money. It was already paid in advance for us. God our Eternal Father sent his only son to die for our sin (our shortcomings, inadequacies, wrongdoings that make us miss the mark) so that we could enter His presence where He would give us freedom. Please don’t take this lightly or for granted. Time and preparation was put in before the first fall of man so that we could be brought back into relationship, into freedom.
The only thing that is required of us is that we maintain our freedom. God does not hide from us. The only thing that can take us out of His presence is if we remove ourselves. Instead, we must make a conscience effort and commitment to daily take out time to be with God. Sometimes this means laying other things aside, like TV and other activities that hog our time and attention.
So the question is, how much is your freedom worth to you?
